    Forbidden and restricted substances

    The CEPRA Laboratory performs analyzes on raw materials and cosmetic products with the purpose of determining impurities, traces of prohibited substances, preservatives and restricted substances (Annexes of Regulation 1223/2009), identifying the composition, checking the level of impurities and contaminants.

    METALS AND HEAVY METALS

    PURPOSES Check of the content of metals and heavy metals in the raw materials and in the finished product. Heavy metals can not be used in cosmetics, but they may be present as technically unavoidable traces and below certain limits.

    ALLERGENS

    PURPOSES Contenuto di allergeni per le materie prime, conformità delle etichette per i prodotti finiti (è obbligatorio quando > 10 ppm per i prodotti leave on e > 100 ppm per i prodotti rinse off)

    AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS (BTEX)

    PURPOSES Check of the content of aromatic hydrocarbons in the raw materials and in the finished product. Benzene is prohibited in cosmetics products and toluene is allowed in nail products only.

    HYDROQUINONES

    PURPOSES Check of the content of hydroquinones in the raw materials and in the finished product. Check of the compliance with the limits in nail products set by Regulation 1223/2009.
    SUBSTANCES Hydroquinone (123-31-9), p-Hydroxyanisole (150-76-5)

    D4 D5 D6

    PURPOSES Check of the content of D4, D5 and D6 in the raw materials and in the finished product. D4 is prohibited in cosmetics, D5 and D6 have restrictions in rinse-off products.
    SUBSTANCES Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, D4 (556-67-2 ), decamethylcyclopentasiloxane D5 (541-02-6), dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane D6 (540-97-6)

    FORMALDEHYDE

    PURPOSES Check of the content of Formaldehyde in the raw materials and in the finished product. Formaldehyde is prohibited in cosmetics products.

    PHTHALATES

    PURPOSES Check of the absence of phthalates reported in Annex II of Regulation 1223/2009 in raw materials and finished products.
